Bernadette Saint Clare's identical twin Maddy died in an accident. Maddy bequeathed her sister their joint ability to see through each other's eyes. With Maddy's death, Bernadette's sight allows her to see the world through others' eyes. The only outward manifestation of this gift is in Bernadette's different colored eyes – one blue, the other brown.

Few colleagues in the FBI know of her gift, but those who do use her to solve murders even while they view what she does with disbelief. In general, she is thought of as an oddity. That she can project her eyes into the eyes of a murderer is an exhausting business for her – but it has many times been successful. Now, Bernadette has been transferred to the St. Paul FBI office – in a basement. Someone has apparently been taking the law into their own hands - killing those whom he feels deserve to die.

That's as far as I'll go with this tremendously suspenseful plot. A first time author, Terri Persons delivers detail with the adept touch of big name authors who have been doing this for years. Her timing is perfect, while the pace starts off running and never slows down. She has come up with several great new concepts – and makes them almost plausible. Her dénouement rivals any I have read before. Do you get the idea I liked this book? You're right, I really did. Though Bernadette is a character new to the crime genre, I hope to see a lot more of her.
