Laurel Estabrook is a very outgoing young college student, who enjoys riding her bike on the back roads of Vermont. One beautiful Fall day she's out riding when she's attacked and left for dead by two men. Her life is changed forever from that time on.

Laurel gives up her love of biking and concentrates on her photography. She continues her studies and graduates to secure a postion at a homeless shelter. While working at the shelter she befriends Bobbie Crocker, an older gentleman with a history of mental illness. He is very kind and always telling stories of his younger years as a photogragher, capturing famous people and becoming successful. Upon his death Laurel finds a box of photographs that coincides with all the stories he had told her. She finds one picture that leaves her shaken. It was taken seven years ago on that fateful day she was attacked. Why did Bobbie have this picture and who took it?

Laurel becomes obsessed with Bobbie's former life and begins to search for answers. She leads readers on a journey to unearth hidden family secrets and discover dark truths that will leave you questioning everything you know. The Double Bind is a must read!
