T
he subtitle of
Celebration of Simplicity
is '
Loving God & Enjoying Life.
' That pretty much summarizes the contents of this beautiful gift book. It consists of short devotions divided into six categories: faith, grace, joy and peace, love, forgiveness, and prayer. Meyer deals with the
simplicity
of each subject in seven to nine devotions apiece. These few paragraphs on each topic are uplifting, inspiring, and thought-provoking. Each devotion has one page of Scripture followed by one page of Meyer's writing. Set on a background of beautiful watercolor flowers, the whole effect is soothing.
T
he book begins with a gift page that you can fill out. I think this would make a wonderful small present for Christmas or a birthday. Any Christian woman would benefit from reading about the simplicity of the Christian faith, even if some of the devotions are slightly repetitious. Meyer's style is personal and friendly, and she offers her own downfalls as examples not to follow. The book has a lovely peach ribbon to mark your place. The devotions are not numbered or dated, so there is no standardized pace to follow. You could read one a day, one a week, or one section of seven or eight devotions in a sitting.
C
elebration of Simplicity
is a gentle, soothing read to cleanse your Christian life of the busyness it may possess.
