or renowned astrologer Mark Husson,
Mark's Power Peek 2007
was an inevitable project. It evolved out of his weekly newsletter, the
Power Peek
, which he emails to subscribers '
as a way to speak to the masses about the wonders of astrology, in a format that everyone is familiar with.
' The book itself follows the same basic premise by attempting to provide guidance and the necessary knowledge about the astrological influences that go on around us every day and affect every aspect of our lives.
B
efore delving into the day-by-day informational essays, Husson describes basic concepts readers should familiarize themselves with. For example, he highlights the different phases of the moon and their impact on our day-to-day lives. He also explains the relationships between the planets and what it really means when '
a planet goes retrograde.
'
U
nlike other horoscope books,
Mark's Power Peek 2007
isn't broken up by individual astrological signs. In fact, the signs we've all become so familiar with aren't even mentioned. The premise of the book, Husson tells us, is that '
we all live under the same astrological influences, regardless of our individual signs.
' This is a fascinating approach particularly because it's so unusual. Could it really be that simple? Are we all influenced by the same astrological events regardless of the month in which we were born? Husson thinks so, and his arguments are compelling.
T
he bulk of the book is dedicated to a day-by-day breakdown of those astrological events and the effects they have on all of us. Each month begins with a summary of what we can expect over the course of the next 28, 30 or 31 days. The main planetary events are also quickly described in the summary, and they're detailed in depth again on the day when they actually occur. Each daily write-up provides a general idea of what may happen as we go about our day. It also includes a
Success Rating
in the form of a star rating on a scale of one to five. An
Affirmation for the Day
narrows the day's events down to one quote readers can carry with them and repeat as the day progresses. Lastly, Husson offers a
Thought for the Month
at the end of each month, which summarizes the previous weeks and the way we feel about what's now behind us.
R
eaders with an affinity for astrological events who are already familiar with the many planetary phases may find this book simplistic for their needs. However, the average person who wishes to learn more about what a day or month has in store for them will greatly enjoy the information Husson has to offer.
