T
his new puzzle book offers '
The Best of Two Worlds
' to puzzle fans - 200 Sudoku as well as 200 Kakuro mindbenders. Puzzle master Alastair Chisholm separates both types into four categories -
Delicious
,
Pernicious
,
Malicious
, and
Vicious
(answers to all the puzzles are included at the back of the book).
C
hisholm offers a brief introduction to the Sudoku section, explaining the logic, and a much longer one to the Kakuro
number crosswords
, which he calls '
The Next Challenge!
' He explains objectives and strategies, and offers a handy table of
Kakuro Blocks
to reference (until they're memorized and no longer needed).
I
admit to being a Sudoku addict who's just started to enjoy Kakuro. My teen son is way ahead of me and fast becoming a Kakuro expert, so I expect we will enjoy these challenges together in idle summer moments.
