There is a black book for addresses, a blue book to determine the value of your car, Redbook Magazine, and now, a purple book to address all of your baby shopping needs. thepurplebook®baby is a compilation of websites aimed at parents who prefer the comfort of their computers for shopping.

Mendelsohn, author of the author of thepurplebook®: The definitive guide to exceptional online shopping, has highlighted well over three hundred websites devoted to products for little ones, as well as products to ease the life of new parents. Of course, there are likely thousands of similar websites, but Mendelsohn has pared down the list based on her own standards of quality.

The listings are arranged alphabetically, with a small descriptive paragraph pertaining to each website. There is a handy index in the back of the book that categorizes all the possible areas of shopping, such as maternity and children's apparel, gift items, toys and games. Who knew that there were almost seventy sites where you can purchase baby blankets, either standard, organic or personalized?

This slim volume, which has tapped into consumerism and materialism, is a handy guide for the most serious of shoppers.
