olby Blanchard is at the top of the high school cheerleading pyramid and a shoe in for homecoming queen. She has it all until a run in with an attacker in the woods turns life upside down. Colby emerges alive, well, sort of. Her attacker was a vampire, and now Colby, the girl with the looks, grades, and guys, is half vampire as well. But her real problems, in Serena Robar's
Braced2Bite
, are just beginning.
T
o start with, Colby's orthodontist father took out her canine teeth long ago to give his daughter the perfect smile. Luckily he supplies her with special headgear so she can feed. Finding a homecoming date quickly becomes the least of Colby's worries - and it's a good thing too, because her new yellow eyes and pasty white skin are about as appealing as her new diet. Colby's biggest problem is her half vampire status. She needs to defend her right to live in front of the Vampire Tribunal. She's being helped by Thomas, a dark and handsome Vampire Investigator. He's kind and caring, but Thomas also would be the one to drive a stake through Colby's heart if she loses her case - truly relieving her of her undead status. She's caught between wanting to trust him and fending off her creepy rogue vampire attacker.
F
illed with bitingly funny humor,
Braced2Bite
is Robar's first book. Colby's character and attitude leap off the pages, whether she's feeding on tough guys or sticking up for her reputation. Being a teenager is tough enough without worrying about ancient Vampire Tribunals and avoiding sunlight, but Colby proves to herself that she can be more than just the most popular girl in the school.
