Claire is the mayor of a small town, Heron Point in the Florida Keys. The latest gossip circulating town is that someone has bought one of the old historic hotels, and a security specialist has arrived to check out the area for this wealthy buyer.

Jack, said security officer, rubs Claire the wrong way. She perceives him trying to change the way she runs her town, and the way the townspeople live. She hates that he comes from a big city and feels he doesn't get what Heron Point is all about. Jack is attracted to Claire, but cannot understand why she is so blind when it comes to the security of her hometown and the safety of its people. He falls in love with Claire and her nine-year old daughter, while at the same time trying to correct the security issues before his boss opens up the restored hotel for business.

I enjoyed this book a lot. What stood out was the cozy feel I got while reading about the townspeople, reminding me of mainstream romance novels I've read in the past few years that take place in small beach towns where everyone knows everyone else. Reading books like this gives a comfortable, snug and safe feeling, with a hint of danger lurking in the shadows. An Unlikely Match, one of a series, depicts two persons as opposite as a couple can get, brought together by inexplicable chemistry. I look forward to the next episode.
