Katie Brown is a very versatile lady - she's the host of two TV programs: All Year Round with Katie Brown and Next Door with Katie Brown, as well as a syndicated columnist for New York Times with her Domestic Dilemmas column. She's also written two previous books that cover entertaining and decorating. In the introduction to Katie Brown's Weekends, Katie says that for most people weekends have become two more days to work through those ongoing to do lists, or to run errands that didn't get done during the week. More and more people are becoming workaholics, who just aren't taking advantage of their time off - and then complain that 'Monday always came too soon'.

This big, colorful and beautifully photographed book will help you re-discover your two treasured days, in six easy-to-follow chapters. Helping Hands shows myriad ways to work together with neighbors and friends - throwing block parties, beautifying the neighborhood, or welcoming newcomers with food or homemade crafts. Need a little relaxation time? Secret Garden shows how to embrace flower power in various ways, from baking to brewing herbal teas. Around the World discusses crafts and foods from Mexico, Morocco, China and France. Searching for your inner Neat Freak? Chapter 4 helps you find it. The Great Outdoors encourages everyone to take a weekend and enjoy Mother Nature. And finally, Holiday is brimming with easy and intriguing recipes, and festive crafts to brighten and bring joy to your Christmas.

I recommend Katie Brown's Weekends to anyone who's ready to reclaim their weekends. The book would also make a great Christmas gift for that workaholic family member or friend.
