J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan presents a world filled with excitement and drama. He takes us on a whimsical tour of Neverland, introducing listeners to adventures and characters throughout the island.

Interestingly, while the animosity between Pan and Hook is evident throughout the audiobook, the tale of how Peter final defeats Hook doesn't really manifest itself until the last third. The main narrative focuses on the adventures that Peter and Wendy enjoy as she and the other Darling children begin to forget their own family. Like L. Frank Baum's Oz series, this audiobook contains many adventures - featuring the mermaids, the savages, the pirates and other inhabitants not previously mentioned - that will deepen listeners' appreciation of the boy who never grew up.

Donada Peters delivers a great performance with a soft yet proper English voice, that carries listeners along like a parent escorting a toddler through the park. Though tolerant of the child who wishes to look around and see everything, Peters betrays only a miniscule hint of impatience as she guides us along in our story. This might not even be her, but a result of Barrie, who may have been so used to rushing from scene to scene, rather than stopping and relishing within one. Regardless, Peters' voice was an appropriate choice, particularly with her gargling pirate's speech and musical performance for the few songs therein.

Peter Pan remains a classic for all ages to enjoy. Filled with wild and fantastic stories, this audiobook can only be enhanced by the imagination of the listener.
