Nancy Taylor Rosenberg comes with an impressive background in law enforcement. She spent fourteen years with the Dallas Police Department, the New Mexico State police, the Ventura Police and the Ventura Probation Department. So, when she writes of what she knows, she can't help but intersperse fact with her fiction.

In Sullivan's Justice, she has mingled the two admirably. Carolyn Sullivan, working for the Ventura County Probation Department, interviews hardened criminals. Raphael Moreno is surely one of the most cold-hearted men she has come up against - a threat even when manacled. To top it off, her brother Neil has found the woman he wanted to marry floating face down in his swimming pool. Neil had problems of his own even before this tragic occurrence. His loving sister comes to his rescue but isn't sure she can keep him from being charged with murder.

Things go from bad to worse very quickly. The plot is finely tuned convoluted but never skipping a beat. Action roars through all the pages as the suspense finds the reader holding their breath. This is not a book to read just before turning out the bedside lights. Rosenberg is an accomplished author with nine other books under her belt; one of them, Sullivan's Law, introducing Carolyn Sullivan. Rosenberg has it all together and manages with what seems like little effort to produce a compelling and wholly believable scenario.

I would like to think that the horror and mayhem depicted is purely imagination. But this author has obviously incorporated her working life experiences into her writing. I look forward to reading more of Nancy Taylor Rosenberg's excellent work.
