In search of an Andy Warhol painting for his own collection, he gives us an intimate insight into the wheeling and dealings that go on in this startling and strange industry. Artists, collectors, gallery owners, and the prominent auction houses, all play an important part. Writing in a light hearted manner with humorous anecdotes, Polsky not only gives us a close up of Warhol as an artist, but also presents his unique place in history, and discusses the marketing ploys that made him a celebrity. I Bought Andy Warhol is a fast paced and interesting memoir. It's an easy read and a fascinating account of a rarefied world that few of us would experience otherwise.
