Do you know any women who don't (do too much, that is) these days? I can't name one, and most of my friends would enjoy, and benefit from, Meditations for Women who Do Too Much. In her original (1990) introduction, the author tells us it's for 'women workaholics, busyaholics, rushaholics, and careaholics' and has included quotes exclusively from women, not to exclude men, but because she found so many 'wonderful quotes from women'. She has updated and reissued the book for the new millennium.

For each day of the year, there's a quote, a meditation, a reaction to the quote, and a reflective sentence to encourage healing and moving on. I like Jane Ace's 'Time wounds all heels' with its discussion of the value of humor; Lauren Bacall's 'You can't start worrying about what's going to happen. You get spastic enough worrying about what's happening now.'; and Lily Tomlin's 'If you can't be direct, why be?' There are 365 meditations (plus 14 alternates) in this sage little book to ponder.

Doing too much? Of course you are. Stop and read Meditations for Women who Do Too Much on a regular basis - it offers perspective and space.
