Monica Grant hosts a controversial radio talk show in Boston. She is a strong opponent of the police department and often expresses her views during her show. Guess who she encounters?

Michael Shaw is a policeman who just came to Boston for the summer. Monica meets Michael at the local bookstore when she is knocked over by a pickpocket who has been plaguing the area for weeks. Michael comes to Monica's rescue, brings her home and patches her up. He smirks at her romantic choice of books and teases her. But he can't get her out of his mind and the feeling is mutual. Is Michael a strong enough suitor for Monica? Both are keeping secrets that could destroy the relationship before it begins.

Barbara Delinsky's Passion and Illusion has a strong heroine and a romantic hero - what more can one ask? The author sets up a wonderful feel good story to read on the swing in the gentle summer breeze - another one for my keeper shelf.
