Carly was once known as Robyn Hart, a journalist who uncovered a huge story and wasn't afraid to testify about it. She is now under the protection of the Witness Relocation program, with a new career as a teacher. She lives in fear that her identity will be uncovered. Her only friends are the people who set her up in the program. In particular, her caseworker Sam has become her best friend and helps her through many emotional issues.

One day on the way home from work, she is terrified when a man accidentally collides with her in front of the apartment building. Ryan Cornell, a young attorney, is smitten with Carly. Carly is attracted to Ryan and knows she is falling in love, but doesn't know if she can trust anyone. If her cover is blown it could cost her more than love is worth. Ryan is jealous of the relationship that Carly has with Sam. He can't decide how significant it is, due to Carly's mysterious nature.

Barbara Delinsky offers a fast paced and wonderfully told story about learning to love and trust again, while living through a dangerous situation. I wanted Carly to have a happy ending because of the pain that she went through. I couldn't wait to read the ending of Finger Prints to find out if its heroine would have the happily ever after that I was pulling for.
