Rick Shannon has spent most of his adult life in radio, working at a succession of stations around the country. When he's fired from his latest job, he takes what he can get: hosting a late-night show at a small Mississippi station. He gets a lot more than he expected: a boss who's a bit of a crook (and that's being charitable), a mystery involving a missing radio personality and an incriminating audiotape, and – perhaps, just perhaps – a new career as a private eye.

I like Fitzhugh's novels very much. He's got a comic touch that's subtle and true, a knack for building characters who're both realistic and larger-than-life, and a genius for crafting stories that keep delivering the unexpected. Fitzhugh's prose is easygoing and laid back, and you can't help having a good time.
