Joanna Carl's Chocolate Bear Burglary, a sequel to The Chocolate Cat Caper, is another charming cozy mystery. Lee McKinney has moved to the resort town of Warner Pier, Michigan, to escape an ex-husband who refuses to let go. Lee works for her Aunt Nettie in a gourmet chocolate shop. Things start to go wrong when Lee's ex-step-son arrives on her doorstep with a tale of woe. A burglary, an almost hit-and-run, a murder, and an attack by snowmobile, soon follow!

The town of Warner Pier could be any resort town, but its residents leave a little to be desired. This is a fun book with a good plot, whose action moved along with ease. It's a little easy to pick out the culprit but I enjoyed the suspense of not being sure. But – the inevitable but – the story was interrupted a number of times by a page of info on chocolate. Relevant? Yes. Necessary to the story? No. Distracting, to say the least. Some of it smacked of the blasted infomercials on TV.

But, that said, The Chocolate Bear Burglary was still a good book and I will look forward to Carl's next chocoholic adventure.
