he Con Man's Daughter
is a fast-paced, action-packed, hard-hitting, suspenseful book about a man who has lived long enough to regret his past. Hardly a page can be turned without Eddie finding himself in a perilous situation - or creating perilous situations. Eddie Dunne - ex-cop, ex-chauffeur for a Russian crime boss, ex-boxer, ex-drinker, loving father and besotted grandfather - watches helplessly as his thirty-four year-old daughter Kate is kidnapped. Adrenaline kicking in, Eddie takes off running at full speed to rescue his red-haired Kate. And that's just in the first few pages.
ince co-operating with the police and FBI gets him nowhere, Eddie applies his own experience, as a cop and as one who has lived on the edge, to find and rescue Kate. What ensues puts many other people in danger. Killing is the order of the day, and Eddie is himself beaten and shot. He must dredge up memories from his career as a cop to work out who might have held a grudge for twenty years. On top of all this, Eddie finds the time to re-acquaint himself with a long ago neighbor, now a cop herself. This rekindles feelings Eddie thought had died when his wife Eileen died of cancer.
his is a great book to read when you have a block of time to spend. Because you won't want to put it down.
