P
sychologist and sometime sleuth Alex Delaware once again is asked by homicide detective and good friend Milo Sturgis to collaborate with him in investigating the murder of a musician. Simple? Straightforward, right? Sure! Nothing can be that easy. The case escalates from a single, random murder to serial killing of rising stars in the world of the arts. Although Delaware and his live-in girl friend have parted company, Robin Castagna, by dint of her guitar making and repairing skills, is threatened.
J
onathan Kellerman has written another high-powered mystery that moves from one breath-taking moment to the next with suspenseful speed.
A Cold Heart
takes a brief look at the condition of the homeless as well as a glimpse at the life of the privileged. The author, a clinical psychologist in real life, brings his expertise to his books to unravel the psychological aspects of the cases in which he aids the police. The characters in Kellerman's novels could probably be any of his patients. They evoked a kind of déjà vu in my mind. Surely I know some of them.
K
ellerman's knowledge of Hollywood and its environs is evident and he uses that knowledge to good advantage to place his characters in believable settings. I always look forward to another of the Alex Delaware series and I am never disappointed.
A Cold Heart
is a great read, one not to be missed.
