Its gorgeous photography (by the author herself and Blair Seitz) will get you right in the holiday spirit. There are magnificent photos of various rooms, windowsills, nooks, crannies, and cozy corners of the 1806 farmhouse decked out in all its Christmas finery. The warm cover photo with its glowing wood stove gives you an idea of what to expect throughout the book. Also included are prayers suitable for the season and the words to various Christmas carols. Several of the author's poems are a bonus ... 'Where did it go / That long awaited season / We invest with such / Anticipation? / It brought us sparkling moments / Prisms of beauty that appeared / Unexpectedly, / And flashed by, / Sprinkling us with Christmas dust.' The history of the farmhouse and its owners are recorded through almost two hundred years. This gives a sense of continuity to a lovely home that the author still occupies. From the small cottage that heralded its beginnings, the farmhouse is depicted in all its Christmas mystique, dusted with snowfall.
