He's back now in Double Shadow. He has been both hindered and helped by a competitor, Helen, and they became close during their exploits in times past. Now Helen is in serious trouble and asks for Rabbit's help. This sends him to first century Jerusalem to find the mysterious Einar Eshek, who turns out to be a vicious psychopath. Complicating matters, Helen is back there as well, but a younger Helen who hasn't met him yet, and doesn't trust him one bit! The story opens on the Great Fire of Rome in 64 CE, during which Rabbit buries a valuable scroll collection to be dug up in his on time. He then meets an American English speaking monster who vivisected a young man, is clubbed himself, and wakes up in the future. After hearing from Helen, he arranges to go back in time once more and meets her younger self, armed with a slingshot. They seek Esek together, posing as refugees. They survive a lion, an accusation of murder, a stoning, militia conscription, a torturer, and much more before they track down the time traveling serial killer. It's quite a ride back and forth in time and its ending is a perfect setup for the next episode.
