Goodbye Girl is the eighteenth (following Twenty) in James Grippando's excellent mystery series starring Miami criminal defense attorney Jack Swyteck. Jack is married to FBI agent Andie Henning and they have a small daughter, Righley.

This story opens twelve years before. In Florida, Andie and her partner find a corpse with a message - 'goodbye girl' - written on the torso. Fast forward to the present, with Jack and Andie invited to a party for superstar Imani Nichols. There, Jack hears Imani, 'one of the biggest pop stars in the world', tell her fans to steal her own music - what gives?

She signed a record contract in her teens with her ex-husband, music mogul Shaky Nichols, leaving him rich from her royalties and Imani underpaid. Now he's suing her and accusing her of spousal abuse. She hires Jack. After the case is dismissed, information is released that connects both Imani and Shaky to the murder of Tyler McCormick (the body found by Andie years before).

The plot thickens, involving a Russian oligarch, sex-trafficking, a Goodbye Girl in London, a trial for murder, a busy sniper, piracy in the entertainment industry, and a serial killer targeting pirates. Jack has a very close shave and Andie issues an ultimatum, which will leave Grippando's fans anxious for the next episode.
