That's what happens to Maja Jensen, who had anticipated the house saving her marriage. What she'd really wanted was to get pregnant but that just hasn't happened. It's a wealthy suburb, New Falls, filled with the entitled and their children. The partying teens are close to high school graduation, most preparing to head to college. After the event, families are protective of their children's futures and the teens aren't talking, but something worse than damage to the house happened that night. What was done to Maddie? Will O'Connor had planned to leave the party early. He'd been going out with Maddie, but lost track of her during the event. He and his brother Trip (their family own and work in an orchard) are friends with Hunter, whose family is extremely wealthy. Will and Trip were seen leaving the party by the cops, who interview others as well. Maddie doesn't recall what happened to her. One of the teens begins talking to the police, and they start building a case against Will, the easiest target. Then Trip (who's on parole) decides to do the right thing, and others follow suite, like a falling pack of cards. It's an intriguing account of the aftermath and consequences to a community of teen folly.
