T
he Deepest of Secrets
is the seventh (following
A Stranger in Town
) in Kelley Armstrong's
Rockton
series. It's set in an isolated Yukon community that was established in the 1950s as a for-profit refuge for people running from their pasts.
T
he series lead is Homicide Detective Casey Duncan, whose lover is Rockton Sheriff Eric Dalton. They have a beloved Newfoundland dog, Storm and Casey's autistic sister April (a physician/ neuroscientist) has joined her. Rockton, '
a secret town and a town of secrets
', is run from afar by a mysterious Council. At this stage in the series, said Council seems to be planning to shut down the town.

Some in the community are victims of crime, some white collar criminals, but others are guilty of violent crimes and paid the Council high fees to be there. There are threats and escalating attacks.
