A new cozy from Donna Andrews always starts to put me in the holiday mood, so I welcomed The Twelve Jays of Christmas for more amusing antics from Meg Langslow and her ever growing crowd of family, friends and neighbors.

Meg is preparing to host quite a crowd of family members for the festivities. Complicating matters, she's agreed to irascible wildlife artist Roderick Castlemayne's use of the library to work on paintings of birds for her grandfather's new book.

A further complication comes from Meg's brother Rob and his fiancée Delaney. They plan a simple wedding, while their mothers have their own idea of what's suitable. Finally, there are wombats in the basement (don't ask!) and everyone needs to wear hats indoors as birds fly everywhere.

All typical for the Langslow household of course - and murder soon enters the mix - Castlemayne's. Several individuals (including ex-wives) had shown up to harass him; was one of them the killer?

Of course, we know we can count on Meg to sort it out, while playing Christmas host, sorting out her brother's predicament, and catching twelve blue jays - and she does, with finesse as always.
