It stars old friends as well as new leads introduced in Dachshund Through the Snow - ex-cop Corey Douglas and his aging police dog partner, Simon Garfunkel. Corey and ex-K-9 Simon teamed up with the love of Andy's life, former cop Laurie Carpenter, and the indomitable (though not very conversational) Marcus. In the first episode, the trio began to work well together (though Corey remained reluctant to cross lines) and Corey developed a new romantic interest in Dani. This episode opens on the murder of Lisa Yates, who had been living with fear for a long time. The case hits Corey hard as he had tried to help Lisa in a domestic dispute when he was on the force. He feels that he failed her then and feels bound to investigate her death - and the K Team has his back. This is fortunate, as Lisa's abusive boyfriend dies next, and the evidence points to Corey! Lisa had unexpectedly quit her job a month before her death, so the team investigates Ardmore Medical Systems, where she had been employed. The pressure escalates when Corey is arrested for murder and Andy prepares for the trial. They uncover more killings linked to these earlier ones. Then Corey, out on bail, finds an obituary. It sets them on the right track to end a national conspiracy (involving extensive cyber manipulation) and clear Corey's name.
