appy-go-lucky Swiss banker Michel has been involved in risky dealings, investing dirty money for a very dangerous Russian client. He doesn't know how to extract himself and his family safely. His body is found after an accident at sea during an excursion with the client.

is wife Alice and his fourteen-year-old daughter Pamela are devastated. Pamela insists on returning to her elite Swiss boarding school after the funeral. Alice seeks refuge in Amagansett with her artist sister Lizzie. Then Pamela is kidnapped from her school. Michel and she had been very close and she's suspected of having overheard conversations and knowing his secrets.

izzie is herself involved with Sergei, a very wealthy Russian. Can he be trusted? On hearing that Pamela is missing, Alice flies to Zurich and is reunited with her daughter. She learns that the kidnappers seek Michel's Russian client, who has disappeared - with their money. Alice decides that she must find him herself, to understand what really happened.

hen she does, she's shocked, as this unusual financial thriller comes to a twisty ending.
Open Secrets
is an engrossing read.
