The Last Mrs. Parrish
. Her new psychological mystery,
The Wife Stalker
, focuses on the young family of handsome lawyer Leo Drakos and the determined young woman who inserts herself into their privileged circle.
P
iper Reynard has a mysterious background. Readers learn on the first page that she was forced to leave San Diego ten months before. She picked Westport, Connecticut as the right place to reinvent herself and has started up '
a thriving business, offering meditation retreats, mindfulness, recovery programs, and nutrition and yoga classes.
' What was she running from?
N
ext we meet Joanna, along with Leo and the two children, Stelli and Evie, enjoying a respite by the sea in Maine. Though Joanna and Leo have been together for years, the relationship seems troubled. It becomes much more so after Piper meets Leo and decides to make a play for him - '
she saw that he was definitely her type. And she intended to make sure she was his.
'
T
hings move quickly after that. Leo asks Joanna to move out and Piper moves in. Joanna grows increasingly concerned for the children's safety, especially after she starts learning about Piper's past and the death of her husband and stepdaughter. Matters progress to what seems an inevitable conclusion - which is when the author turns her plot upside down, with yet another twist on the very last page.
