It's well known in Ashford, Cornwall that Meg Nichols has been caring for her daughter Grace for years. Grace has been suffering for what seems like forever. One disease after another. All debilitating and causing Grace to use a wheelchair.

The whole village thinks that Grace and her mother are the epitome of kindness and caring. Grace's abusive father had tried to kidnap Grace at one point. He didn't succeed but never stopped wanting to be in her life.

One morning, Meg is found bludgeoned to death and Grace is missing! Local journalist Jon Katrin had written an article about Meg and Grace and wants to do more, but Grace is not to be found.

Where can Grace be? And why was Meg murdered? The townspeople are divided as to what might have happened to this young woman, who spent most of her life in a hospital bed. A diary is discovered, that could possibly provide the answer! Does it?
