He has become a bailiff in the courts. He feels the urgent need to spend more time with his teenage daughter, realizing that his job had become all encompassing with Olivia coming in second. Is he too late? Olivia, at fourteen, has become entangled with a young man with a questionable background. Bruno gets a frantic phone call from Olivia to rescue her from a gang infested neighborhood. Soon things go from bad to worse when a jailbreak occurs involving both Olivia and Bruno. A brutal killer, who thinks nothing of torturing and killing on a whim, is now on the loose and Olivia has disappeared! David Putnam's The Heartless is full of suspense, sharp dialogue, and a father's desperate love for his daughter. There's also a great plot line. Welcome back, David Putnam.
