heir protagonist is international hotel executive Dan Reilly, a former Army intelligence officer with ties to the CIA. The story opens with a bombing at the Kensington Hotel in Tokyo that kills dozens. Footage of the scene shows a smirking individual walking calmly from the wreckage. It becomes Dan's mission to track him down and foil his further plans. He also works to increase security (and ties to intelligence networks) for the Kensington chain.
L
ittle does he know that he's up against much more than terrorist attacks; there is a sinister plan being implemented. While all this unfolds, Dan finds himself in a romantic relationship with banking executive Marnie Babbitt, who might well be a femme fatale. Tension builds to a crescendo with another imminent attack - can Dan stop this one?
