hough I've lived with cats for most of my life, I somehow never got my hands on one of Shirley Rousseau Murphy's cozy mystery series, in which the felines have all sorts of special powers and lead the investigations, unbeknownst to the authorities.
Cat Chase the Moon
is the 21st in the popular series!
T
here are three different sets of criminal activities going on in Molina Point in coastal California, and Joe Grey has his nose to the ground on every one of them. But one in particular has his complete attention, and his partner Dulcie's - their teen calico daughter Courtney (who sees into the past) disappears from an outing with her mother.
A
ntiques owner Ulrich Seaver has taken her and treats her well (aside from locking her in his store) - for what purpose did he abduct her? Aside from that mystery, Joe Grey found a brutalized, almost dead woman in a park near the shore - he called for help and so saved her life. There are multiple robberies in the village too, one resulting in the victim's death.
W
ith all of Molina Point's felines (and their human associates) on these investigations, we know they'll be quickly resolved. I have to say that I enjoyed the book, but not the gun culture that's so much a part of its characters' lives.
