The Sicilian Woman's Daughter by Linda Lo Scuro tells of the mystery encircling the lives of four generations of Mafia women. This engaging novel probes family ties, secrets, and lies.

Readers meet Maria, the daughter of Sicilian immigrants. She has embraced the English life style and is more than content to work her way up to join the upper-middle class of British society. Maria has turned her back on her origins. She is happy with her decision to leave the Sicilian way of life.

However, she is drawn back to her mother's family history as a murky past is revealed. What occurs takes her back to her grandmother's past, and she is swept into what could be a dangerous vendetta.

Can she step back from her Sicilian heritage? How can she not get revenge for the wrong done to her family? She has settled into England and wants her new life to continue. But how can she be content knowing her family has been wronged?

The Sicilian Woman's Daughter caught my interest by the end of the first page. It's a good read.
