hy would a respected scientist (Alzheimer researcher Charlie McMahon) suddenly go haywire, hold people in a café hostage, and die in a shootout with the FBI? That question lies at the heart of Allison Brennan's
Too Far Gone
, fourteenth in her romantic thriller series starring FBI Agent/profiler Lucy Kincaid. Though I haven't read many of the previous episodes, I've certainly enjoyed the ones I did manage to acquire.

ucy is now happily married to expert hacker Sean Rogan. Sean's brother Kane and Lucy's brother Jack play their parts in the story, as does the couple's dog, Bandit. Lucy is kept busy investigating McMahon, whose research assistant is soon found dead as well. Fortunately, Sean is well occupied, his son Jesse visiting for the summer. Sean has to learn to be a parent as he only recently found out that he had a son. His ex-wife Madison, Jesse and his stepfather Carson Spade had been in Witness Protection, as Spade had been laundering money for a drug cartel.
A
s Lucy's case progresses, there are attacks on the family - is this to do with what she's working on? Sean suspects that Spade is behind the violence, but how are he and Lucy being tracked? Matters escalate towards a violent home invasion, after which Bandit plays a key role in saving the day. Don't miss this action-packed and thoroughly entertaining series.
