If you enjoy an over the top romance, with leads who can do no wrong, a strong foodie element, and a touch of mystery, then dive into Meg Tilly's Solace Island, the first in a new series.

After Maggie Harris is dumped by her sleazy fiance Brett on the eve of their wedding (he calls during her bachelorette party), her sister Eve convinces her to join her on a Solace Island vacation. Before she leaves, Maggie start putting in motion steps needed to sell her half of the company she and Brett started together. She gives him two weeks to buy her out, then heads to Solace.

Luke Benson, retired from the high risk security world after a woman's betrayal and a related injury, notices Maggie weeping on the ferry ride back to the island with his wolfhound Samson. He meets her again when she gets lost on her way to the cottage next to his. Though Maggie seems unhinged to Luke, sparks fly, encouraged by Eve once she arrives and spies this hottie. Eve encourages a get-over-Brett fling.

Luke sells breads on the island and he helps Maggie and Eve to sell their own baked goods at the Saturday market. Their relationship develops (with the odd hiccup) as expected. Then their idyllic existence is invaded - first by an attempted hit-and-run, followed by a kidnapping. Fortunately, Luke has the resources and the motivation to take a hand - as does Maggie.

For a light, fast, feel-good romance, Solace Island is the perfect pick - and it launches a new series.
