I
f you are in need of some cheering up,
Hard Core Twenty-Four
by Janet Evanovich will do the trick. The author's keen sense of humor has run rampant over the first twenty-three in this series featuring the antics of Stephanie Plum, Bounty Hunter extraordinaire.
I
n this episode of Stephanie's life, she has run into a snag. She has caught up with her target, who refuses to let her take him in to face the charges against him unless Stephanie promises to care for his boa constrictor while he is incarcerated!
S
nakes are not high on the list of animals she would like to have. Lula, who works for the same boss Stephanie does, makes her appearance. I picture her with a box of doughnuts in one hand while the other hand clutches a bucket of fried chicken. Stephanie owns a stun gun that she feels she could use on the snake if absolutely necessary.
O
f course, whatever can go wrong, almost always does. Stephanie has two men, both hunks, vieing for her attention. All women should be so lucky. One is a policeman who owns a very large dog. The other provides security service for people with a shady reputation. Stephanie tends to wreck automobiles that the other loans to her.
I
n summary, Stephanie Plum is good for whatever ails you.
