S
ix Londoners are invited to a country house in the English mystery,
Weekend at Thrackley
, one of a series of
British Library Crime Classics
that has offered excellent reading for mystery fans.
J

C
arson is a collector of very expensive jewels, keeping his valuable stones in a steel protected vault in the cellar, gotten to by a hidden lift. He acquires his stones by replacing others' jewelry with fake copies, and he has his eye on some wonderful stones owned by his guests.
J
im is immediately attracted to Carson's daughter Mary. Mary knows what her father is up to and wants no part of it. Thrackley is a wonderfully welcoming house enjoyed by all the guests. However, they feel that something is up and wish to leave.
T
he plot is a good one. It depends on fantasizing the action, which makes this a really good story. Charge up your sense of humor and start reading.
