o you enjoy short stories? I am of the opinion that short stories are harder to write than a novel. I know. I've tried both. Hard or easy, here are twenty stories in
Ten Year Stretch
for your edification.
E
dited by Martin Edwards and Adrian Miller, this volume is chock full of short stories. Good ones. Written by well-known authors: Bill Beverly, Simon Brett, Lee Child, Ann Cleeves, Jeffery Deaver, Martin Edwards, Kate Ellis, Peter Guttridge, Sophie Hannah, John Harvey, Mick Herron, Donna Moore, Caro Ramsey, Ian Rankin, James Sallis, Zoe Sharp, Yrsa Siguroardottir, Maj Sjowall, Michael Stanley, and, last but not least, Andrew Taylor.
T
hese stories were especially commissioned to celebrate the tenth anniversary of
Crimefest
, described as '
one of the 50 best festivals in the world
'. There is no common thread between these stories. Just stand-alone tales to delight the reader.
T
hey certainly did delight me. All these writers did their best to create new stories with crime as a theme. Murder, house invasion, and every type of wrongdoing in between will give a very good read. Enjoy.
