mily Winslow's
Look for Her
takes the typical path of a psychological thriller and gives it a new twist. The author travels back and forth from one voice to another in each chapter. I have to admit I was a tiny bit confused at first 'til I got the hang of Winslow's different bent, which worked very well and helped to keep me focused on a great plot with believable characters.
T
his also brought to my mind that a scenario such as I was reading could happen to anyone. Frightening thought. The story starts in the small English village of Lilling, just outside of Cambridge. In 1976, Annalise Wood disappears while riding her bike home from school. Never a trace of her is found until a body is discovered many years later. DNA testing has been discovered in the meantime and authorities feel they have a suspect. Cold case detective Morris Keene and his former partner, Chloe Frohmann, investigate.
B
y switching between characters, the author gives us a chance to look into many different opinions as to whether the body awaiting a name is really that of Annalise or a totally different murder victim.
Look for Her
is truly hard to put down. By the time I reached the last chapter I thought I knew what would be revealed. Boy! Was I wrong. This is a very good read.
