Malamute she is treating brings her a present after his run in the mountains – a human bone! Eventually, the bone is found to belong to a young man who disappeared in the area ten years before. The whole town thought he had followed through on his graduation plans to go to Hollywood and become a star. Instead, he reposed in a hastily dug grave for a decade.

hile never stepping out of her role as the town's vet, Kate involves herself in the mystery of how Flynn came to be in a grave instead of the star in a Hollywood movie. She and her dubious boyfriend intend to discover what happened to the popular town resident.

his, of course, leads them into danger, which deeply worries her Indiana Jones look-alike sweetheart, who suddenly appears on the scene. And, of course, Kate does get into serious trouble all by herself.

elightful book. I learned a little about being a vet. And to stay away from deep woods – especially when a bear might be in the vicinity.
