I shall also point out that the language is rough. I found it hard to take at first but then I realized that this book gives a depiction of someone's life and that particular language is a part of their everyday conversations – not just thrown in for shock value. So – first off – meet Bobbi Logan, the owner and operator of an upscale beauty parlor. She happens to have been born male, but is now a transgender woman and much happier in her body. She does have a big problem. She is sure someone is stalking her. Bobbi is frightened – who wouldn't be? She had been assaulted, raped, and beaten and the two men who did this to her have never been caught. She has been subject to bullying and bigotry and made enemies in her fight to have a prosperous business. But stalking? Enough already. Vowing to never be a victim again, she lives her life as she had been doing – with humor, love for her friends, and consideration for others. If that isn't enough, she is ready to overpower anyone who steps unwanted into her life. Renee James' Seven Suspects takes the reader into the world of a transgender individual. Life had to have been hard enough handling nature's mistake. To have lived through that until what had to have been a very hard decision took courage that must be applauded. Bobbi Logan, in this excellent plot faces adversity head-on, ready to take on what comes at her. But whoever is stalking her proves to be ahead of her in what he or she can do to ruin Bobbie's life. Humor, suspense, being made aware of how good friends are such a valuable commodity, a touch of romance and a good look at the world at large makes this an enjoyable read.
