He is a highly decorated detective sergeant of the NYPD Da Force, having spent eighteen years serving the citizens of New York City. The feeling among the ranks is that they put their lives on the line every day. Why shouldn't the police receive their fair share of bribes? This attitude leads to bigger and bigger deliveries of illegal drugs, brought into the city from the south. And more and more police pockets lined with greenbacks that are untraceable. Money to send their kids to college. Money to buy that little beach house for retirement. Money to make life easier. If the fat cats benefit, the men in blue feel they deserve some of that dirty money too. And so, Don Winslow's hard hitting The Force delves into vice, corruption, drugs, torture, life and death on the streets – name it. The Force will have you gasping for breath as you read what man will do to his fellow man. Keep in mind that this is a work of fiction. Or is it? If it's true, it must be hard to find a person not on the take in New York City. The consequences of Malone's attitude of 'get it while you can' are hard to deal with. But exciting to read about. This book will keep you up nights turning just one more page. And then one more. Do not miss this one.
