In the small town of Skagway, Alaska the crimes investigated by local police are usually DUIs and missing bikes. Of all times to be short of men on the force – chief's in the hospital and another man is missing - this is a very bad one. The daughter of a billionaire has been kidnapped.

Sneaking off a cruise ship to travel with a college boy she has convinced to spend the summer crossing Canada with her, Misty is sure that, at sixteen, she is old enough to live her own life and not the one dictated by her father and stepmother.

Now Officer Katherine Ward is almost certain that the man who kidnapped her and held her for nine months is back in her life. Known as the Beekeeper, he is a psychopath who delights in controlling others – namely young girls. Two are now missing. Katherine starts to relive what she endured years ago and determines she will track down this man and free the girls. Even though she is told she is off the case, she continues to work on finding the monster.

Katherine is devastated when she learns that the Beekeeper has captured her grandfather. What happens next is for readers to learn on their own. I can't spoil the finish for anyone. I read it with my heart in my mouth, hoping for the best and holding my breath. All I can tell you is that I survived!
