henever I hold a mystery by author Betty Webb in my hot little hands I know I am in for a good read. And it being a Lena Jones mystery is a highly prized bonus.
L
ena is a Scottsdale PI who was repeatedly raped when nine years old by her foster father. Knowing she had to look out for herself, she ran away after a trial failed to convict him of child abuse. Many years later, the abuser's enabler wife is found shot through both eyes. Of course, Lena is suspected but is released when another woman is arrested. Later the rapist is found tortured to death.
L
ena is asked to find this man's killer so that another woman who suffered in foster care with the abuser and his wife will not be prosecuted for a crime she did not commit. All who were abused by him are glad he is dead and would never tell who they thought killed him. A villain is gone and there are smiles on a lot of faces because of it.

etty Webb, author of
Desert Vengeance
, writes of Arizona. I recognize so much of which she writes, and in so doing brings my memories tumbling back from visiting a friend who lives there. Doubling that with a fine mystery made for a truly pleasurable read.
W
ebb has now written nine mysteries in this series (as well as the Gun Zoo mysteries). I can't wait to read the tenth. I want to know if Lena decides to marry the man who declares his love in so many ways. Obtain a copy of
Desert Vengeance
and indulge yourself. Worth the effort.
