R
emember the late author Robert B. Parker? He created the hugely popular Spenser mystery series with Hawk and Susan Silverman and their beloved wonder dog Pearl. Not willing to let Spenser go the way of his author, Ace Atkins has filled the void and continued the series.
A
tkins satisfactorily writes as his predecessor and has produced work that meets Parker's guidelines, with a touch of his own thrown in; thus, producing very entertaining reading.
A
s Spenser works his way through good food, as well as good drinks, he still makes appearances at his friend's gym where he more or less stumbles upon a teen who needs help. The kid made fun of his school principal on a popular website. Before a judge, both the boy and Spenser are stunned and outraged at the length of a sentence that is handed down.
T
he PI recognizes that something is awry and promises the boy that he will somehow get his sentence shortened or forgiven. Spenser puts his splendid mind to work and realizes that something is definitely wrong. The rest of this really good read is for you to discover and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.
