R
everend Dodd, vicar of the Cornish village of Boscawen, enjoys spending his evenings quietly reading detective stories by a cozy fire. When a real crime occurs (the shooting of a local magistrate), he feels he must put his extensive reading to good use.
W
hen no clues appear, Dodd offers his expertise to catch the killer. Oddly enough, he solves the unusual murder, surprising even himself. It's a delightful mystery. I can easily picture the scenes by the fire as well as the cold night when a man was shot from outside his house during miserable weather.
