Anne A. Wilson's Hover, written by an active-duty U.S. helicopter pilot, took readers into a naval battle group in action - with an extremely competent woman at the controls. The technical details were fascinating, the mystery intriguing and the love interest engaging.

Wilson delivers more of the same action/romance entertainment in her new Clear to Lift, this time in a mountain rescue setting in Nevada. It stars Navy helicopter pilot Lieutenant Alison Malone. Her childhood was marred by her father's desertion and she's sought stability and security and been an anal rule follower ever since ... but that's about to change.

To Alison's dismay, she's been reassigned from an elite H-60 squadron to search and rescue with a team that flies out of Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada. And, over her protests, aircraft commander Boomer Marks bends the rules all the time. In one of their rescues, they work with Will Cavanaugh, 'one of the best all-around mountaineers in the world.'

Attraction flares between them when they meet, but Alison is engaged to rich, intelligent, successful stock market trader Richard Gordon. He loves her deeply and will provide a secure and comfortable life style. Alison's mother, just getting over the death of her second husband, encouraged the match.

Of course, you can see where this is going. Alison becomes much more of a risk taker, on the job and in relationships. But the author tosses in quite a few twists and turns along the way, and gives depth to her story with many thrilling accounts of helicopter assisted mountain rescue in the Sierra Nevada. Clear to Lift is another inspiring and heartwarming read.
