Jack Coughlin's Night of the Cobra is a fast-paced military thriller starring Kyle Swanson, once an elite Marine sniper and now working for the CIA.

The story moves back and forth in time, showing Kyle's interactions with a vicious warlord, General Aidid, and his trained thug, the Cobra, in 1992 Mogadishu, Somalia. There, Kyle also met, and fell in love with, redheaded Irish Aid Society administrator Molly Egan. He arranged US passports for her Somali friends - a doctor, Lon, his wife Deqo and their grandson, Lucky. But then the Cobra took a horrific revenge.

Fast forward to 2013 when Deqo and Lucky are in the U.S., Lucky as an FBI agent. Kyle is the adopted son of the billionaire Cornwells, heir to their holding company. But he's also a special consultant to the CIA. And the Cobra survived brutal imprisonment in Kenya and is also in the United States, with mayhem in mind. He masterminds horrific terrorist attacks against civilians, but plans a very personal vengeance as well. Lucy and Kyle work to stop him in the U.S. but the end game will be back in Somalia.

It's a gripping read that will hold your attention in a summer hammock or on the beach - and don't miss the excerpt at the back for the next in the series, Long Shot.
