n Hartford, Connecticut, PI Rick Van Lam's mentor and partner Jimmy is badly injured when he is hit by a car as he backs away from an attack that kills his friend. The two older men were simply walking on the sidewalk when, out of the blue, they were attacked by two young toughs.
R
ick is asked to clear a young boy's name when the boy is targeted by the police as one of the attackers. Simon Tran is one of the many children born to Vietnamese mothers and American GI fathers. These poor kids were most often left to raise themselves as they were shunned by the pure-blood community. Even in the United States they are harassed by the large Vietnamese population. As Rick is also one of these kids, he understands what Simon is going through. He's tired of being harassed and wants to feel included in the community.
T
rying to help the boy, Rick runs into more than he bargained for. Hank, a friend of Rick's, helps Rick as they discover Simon's ties to a Vietnamese gang in Little Saigon. Saving this boy from a life of crime or an early death proves to be a tougher job than he expected.
No Good to Cry
takes a new and fresh look at crime and those who want to change the course of a life.
