I
n this high octane debut, Michael Rudolph combines the knowledge he gleaned working as a Park Avenue attorney with his love of sailing. His attractive and gutsy heroine, lawyer Beth Swahn, has just won a multi-million dollar judgment for the division of a Chinese conglomerate. Beth is quite pleased with the outcome until Leonard Sloane, the president of the division, disappears with his girlfriend and seventy million dollars of the money.
T
hen, quite conveniently, the fleeing couple are presumed to be dead after a mayday call sent from the Caribbean suggests their yacht has floundered and sunk. Stunned by her former client's perfidy and her own gullibility, Beth decides to try to determine what has happened to the missing millions. This begins a journey that will familiarize her with international money laundering and white collar crime, while ultimately placing her on a collision course with a group of nasty individuals who are at the center of what could well be a geopolitical firestorm if certain facts become public knowledge.
A
long the way, the attorney will also have to deal with Sloane's son, who may or may not be part of his father's shady dealings. Her feelings about the handsome young man, coupled with her misgivings about whether he knows more than he is letting on, make for an interesting complication which can't be swept under the rug.
I
n his first novel, author Michael Rudolph delivers a riveting story with well defined characters and plenty of shocking surprises. A fast read, you'll not want to miss
Noble Chase
if you enjoy legal thrillers.
